"For we do not contend against flesh and blood...."

Holy War or not a Holy War? That is the question. We all know that to the Islamic Jihadist this is a holy war; a fight to the death between the followers of Mohammed against all Christians and Jews and against our muslim allies (who the Jihadist considers "apostates" or traitors to their faith). But how do we see our global war on terror? I've offered a couple of views on how (if I were king) I'd fight this war, but I've been remiss in not expessing my view on the most important weapon in our arsenal.
You see (or maybe you don't see)...this is a holy war. We were alseep at the wheel (or more correctly, we were asleep at the altar) on 9/11 when Mohamed Atta and his gag of murders flew into the twin towers and the pentagon. When we recovered from our shock, we invaded Afghanistan (which was the right thing to do) and a 18 months later we invaded Iraq (which I also believe was the right thing to do). We bloodied the enemy, but we have not defeated him yet. Why? We've used our economic might, our superior techology, our better trained soldiers, and still the enemy fights on. He fights on desperately because we have not crushed this serpant beneath our heel by fully bringing to bear our most powerful weapon, prayer.
I don't know your views on religion or on the power of prayer, but if you'll bear with me for a few minutes, I think I can show you that no matter how many troops we send to Afghanistan and Iraq, no matter how good our intelligence or how superior our equipment, we will not win the war on terror until America joins it's soldiers and begins to fight from it's knees.
In Judges chapter 6, you'll find the tale of how the childern of Israel were being oppressed by the Midianites, and a guy named Gideon was called by an angel of the Lord to deliver Israel. The first thing Gideon did was offer a sacrifice to God. Then he threw down the temple of Ba'al and built an altar to Jehovah. After that Gideon gathered an army of 10,000 men. But God told him it was too big. If he defeated the Midianites with such an army, God wouldn't get the credit. In the end, Gideon and 300 men routed the entire Midianite army.
Then there's David and Goliath. You probably know how that went down, even if you only go to church on Easter and Christmas. David defeated the most feared fighter in the middle east with prayer and a sling shot, then cut off his head and took it on tour.
Joshua didn't bring down the walls of Jericho with smart bombs or Abram tanks, either.
But those are Bible stories you say? How about General George S. Patton and his Third Army? During December 1944, Patton's Third was bogged down in Germany by bad weather, so he got a chaplin to write this prayer and send it to his troops. "Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen." The very next morning, the weather cleared and Patton's Third Army proceeded to march out and kick some Nazi butt. Can you imagine the howl if an American general did that today?
Then there's the story of the Marine tank platoon on the verge of invading Kuwait. The night before they are to cross the border, an unexpected rain storm blows across the desert. In the morning the marines wake up to find a mine field uncovered by the previous night's downpour. When a Marine lieutenant told his mom the story when he returned home, she explained to him that very night she had lead a prayer group praying for their protection.
I have walked through the Valley of the Shadow of Death myself on a couple of occassion and watched as some fell on my left and right hand, but I'm sitting here today. Not because I'm holy or because of my M4 carbine and body armor, but because Christians covered me with the power of prayer.
We will not win the war on terror on the battle grounds of Iraq and Afghanistan until we fight it in the spiritual realm. "For our war is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against the powers of darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12
We fight Islamic Jihadist who follow the teachings of a false prophet. They are deluded madmen who think nothing of blowing to bits two dozen muslim children waiting to get a piece of candy from infidel American soldier. Do you honestly think murders like that are not influenced by the powers of darkness of this world? We are locked in a real live (pardon the pun), honest to God battle between good and evil. If America sits back and just waits for her troops to carry the day, a lot of brave young men and women will die passing out candy and kicking in doors while Satan sits back and has a good laugh. It's time you realized that America and get to fighting.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

Guantanamo Bay- Part 2

The Pentagon released a report today about the abuse of prisoners at Camp Xray in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. If you haven't seen it or read it or heard about it, I'll give you the down and dirty. "Interrogators subjected a suspected terrorist to 'abusive and degrading' treatment, forcing him to wear a bra, dance with another man and behave like a dog," military investigators reported Wednesday. (This is according to Associated Press writers John Lumpkin and Lolita Baldor) Army Major General Geoffery Miller has been recommended a repremand for failing to oversee the interrogation of a 9/11 suspect.

The terror "suspect" in question is Mohamed al-Qahtani, a Saudi citizen captured in December 2001 along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. It was learned later that he had tried to enter the U.S. in August 2001 but was turned away by an immigration agent at the Orlando, FL airport. Mohamed Atta, the ringleader of the 9/11 terrorists, was in the airport at the same time, officials have said. (To read the AP story, check out the link below)

Okay, let me get this straight, Mr al-Qahtani was turned away at the Orlando airport the same day Mohamed Atta arrived and he was captured along the Afghan-Pakistan border 4 months later in December (right about the time the 101st Airborne was chasing the remnants of the Taliban, al-Qaeda and Osama bin Ladin into Pakistan), and to make him talk at Gitmo they.....forced him to join a fraternity! Oh my Gawd! I'm ashamed to be an American! How can I live with myself? Th-th-they forced him to wear a bra! They forced him to d-d-d-dance with a....a man! Well BFD! For those who need that deciphered it's "Big ****ing Deal!"

Listen up Ted Kennedy and Howard Dean and Kofi Anna, once and for all, terrorist like Mohamed al-Qahtani are not enemy soldiers entitled to the rights granted by the Geneva Convention. They are not American citizens protected by the United States constitution. The are not criminals protected by Habeas Corpus. What they are are sub human monsters polluted by a false religion who need to be exterminated before they contaminate the rest of the world or endanger another living soul. If I were king, those who were found guilty of terrorism by a military tribunal (after we had determined we had squeezed every last drop of information we could from them) would be lined up against a wall and shot. Those who were determined to no longer be a threat would be packed up on a C-130, given a parachute and a bottle of water, and I'd fly them back to Afghanistan and kick them out the back ramp somewhere over the snowy Hindu-Kush or smack in the middle of the burning Saudi wastelands.

My wife and I were having a discussion last night in bed (as wives and husbands often do) and she asked me to tell her a secret about myself that I'd never told her before. What I told her was, "I sometimes worry that God will be angry with me because I have absolutely no remorse about anything I did in Afghanistan. I haven't lost a single second of sleep over any muslim who was sent straight to H-E- double L directly by the 5.56mm coming from my M-4 or who may one day die at the hands of an Afghan soldier I trained. I also told her that every time I read something bad in the news involving the war on terror (like the CH-47 getting shot down with all those brave Navy Seals) I wish I was back in Afghanistan riding in a chopper and humping through the mountains looking for OBL. And I wish Sameul L Jackson was right beside me so when I found him, right before I put a bullet in his brain Sam could say, "And you will know my name is the Lord! When I lay my vengeance upon you!" BANG!

Does that make me no better than Mohamed Atta or Mohamed al-Qahtani? I'm pretty sure God is going to let me know that when I see him. Until then, "The duty is ours, the consequence is God's"

While you weren't looking...

While you weren't looking, the United States Supreme Court decided on June 23 that the government could disregard the Fifth Amendmant to the constitution. I'm not talking about the part of the Fifth Amendment most people immediately think about involving court and trials and someone saying, "I'd like to take the fifth on that, your honor," so they don't screw up and confess something and send themselves to jail. There's another part to the fifth amendment (commonly referred to as imminant domain) that deals with property rights, to whit (that sounded legal, didn't it) to whit, a person can't be compelled to be a witness against himself blah, blah, blah, ...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation." If you're familiar with imminant domain, it's probably because some cousin of yours owns a home beside the highway and TDOT turned it into a four lane, paid him $10,000 or $20,000 for his front yard, and now he has to look both ways before opening his front door.

The key phrase in dealing with imminant domain has always been (always being since 1787 or so) "...taken for public use without just compensation." Public use (until June 23, 2005) has meant use by the government or public services (roads, railways, airports, schools etc, etc...) but now (according to the Supreme Court)....now it means Private Citizen A's land (land he or his family may have owned for generations) can be taken by the government (county, city, state or federal...doens't matter) for just compensation or even simply condemned (which is another sack full of squirrels) and sold or given to Private Citizen B, because B is going to build a hotel or company headquarters of even a WalMart, that will generate more tax revenue or create some jobs. It doesn't matter if Private Citizen A has kept his land in good repair and paid his taxes. Private Citizen B can now go to the county/city/state government and say, "That piece of property right there would be perfect for a (insert whatever Citizen B happens to build or own), but Citizen A won't sell it to me. Now if I owned it, that property would generate X amount more tax dollars and at the same time, I'd have to hire a whole bunch of people to knock down his home and build my ACME gunpowder headquarters."
"You don't say," says the city council. "How much did you offer Citizen A?"
"$X," says Citizen B.
"Well," says the city council, "if you're ACME headquarters is going to bring in that much money in taxes and jobs, it's got to be in the public's best interest to condemn his property, offer him half as much, then give it to you."
"That's what I was thinking," say Citizen B.

Does that sound crazy? Well it is! But that's what is now legal according to the Supreme Court and that's exactly what's happened in New London, Connecticut to six homeowners who liked their beach front homes and didn't want to sell them so Pfizer could put up a corporate headquarters with an ocean view and condos for their employees so they'd be happy making Viagra. Kelo Vs. New London http://straylight.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/04-108.ZS.html

The only bright spot to this entire mess, this ridiculous interpretation of the constitution by five out of their right mind judges is that they left in a loop hole that allows county/city/state govenments to specifically write laws that prohibit governments from taking land from Private Citizen A and giving it to Private Citizen B. If this seems utterly insane to you, before the last 4th of July hotdog or hamburger is digested, call/write/fax and email your state representatives and senators and demand they sponsor a bill saying exactly that before they take their next bribe. Or maybe you don't care that while young men and women are dying for our freedom and liberty, the Supreme Court (And the Patriot Act and geez...what else) is systematically stripping our all our rights away. It's a good thing we still have the Second Amendment. But for how long?

That's my stinking opinion
