Stuhde hord or be lack me
If you are unaware of the flap about Sen. John Kerry's uneducated militiary "joke" you've probably been in a coma for the last 72 hours. Then again, maybe you did hear what he said and were just too uneducated to understand him.
Being in the military, I guess I fall into that category.
Just in case you missed it, Monday Senator John Kerry (D- MA) while speaking on education made this comment. "Education...if you make the most of it, study hard, do your homework, and make an effort to be smart, you...you can do well. If you don't you get stuck in Iraq."
Like most uneducated soldiers, I took this as an insult. Now...even thought it's been over 15 years since I've been to Iraq, I've lately found myself stuck in Afghanistan helping build the Afghan National Army, stuck in Smyrna, Tennessee at the Regional Training Institute as an instructor of Cavalry Scouts, and within the next two weeks will be leaving for Arizona where I will be stuck for 6 months watching our border. And according to John Kerry it's all because I didn't study hard enough in school and I'm too stupid to do anything else. Is that what you were saying senator?
Not so says John (Can anyone say Flip Flop?) Kerry. When a firestorm developed over his "joke" he tried to change his tune by saying, "umm....What I meant to say was....umm Bush is stuck in Iraq. Yeah! That's it." (Because earning an MBA from Harvard doesn't require study I guess) He then said he wouldn't apologize. No siree! That President Bush should be the one to apologize for his failed policy. Then when even his fellow Dems started to back away from him and request that he not attend their upcoming campaign appearances, he offered up what passes for an apology in today's world by saying, "I sincerly regret that my words were misinterpreted...." Which in political speak means, "I'm sorry you don't have my superior intellect and were too stupid to understand my joke."
In case you couldn't hear me, that was a long, wearied sigh. Why? Because I'm tired. Yes, surprising as it may sound, like a great number of Americans I am tired of the business of politics as usual coming from Republicans (and Democrats also) from Washington, D.C. I am tired of the current Iraq policy where are troops seem to be nothing more than targets of opportunity. I'm tire of all the scandel and shameless behavior. I'm so tired in fact, that I was almost to the point of voting for candidates with Ds beside their names. That is, until John Kerry re-energized me with his thoughtless comment.
Thanks John. Thanks for reminding me that's is better to be insulted by you as the junior senator from Massachusettes than being forced to salute you as my commander-in-chief. Thanks for reminding me that no matter how bumbling and shameful Republicans can be as the majority, it's better than being forced to endure the secular progressive crap your fellow Democrats like Teddy Kenndy and Hi-liar-y, and left coasters Nancy Pelosi and Tom Reid would try and shove down my throat as the majority. Thanks for reminding that at least the current majority wants to at keep the jihadist busy over there rather than pulling out and letting them have unfettered control. Cause at least that will keep me worrying if the CIA is being tough enough on suspected terrorist and snooping in on phone calls and emails to and from Pakistan and Afghanistan and other all the other 'stans and not worrying that car bombs and homicide bombers will stop blowing themselves up over there and start doing it in New York City or Atlanta or LA or Washington, D.C. or (insert the name of your home town here).
But what do I know? I'm just an uneducated, can't find a better job than soldiering, war criminal supporting, flag waving not burning, marriage outta be between one man and one woman believing, kill murders and not unborn baby thinking, small minded conservative. And I sincerly regret if any of my words are misinterpreted.
Will someone check ta cee if'n I spelled all them thar words rigt?
